lizfu: (WTF)
For the past week or so, I've been struggling to network my 360 console to my laptop to sap internets so I could have Live and download a bunch of goodies and add-ons for my games. And for the past week or so, I've been failing miserably. Like, the-360-wouldn't-even-try-to-connect-to-the-network fail. I tried using a crossover ethernet cable, because half of the tutorials out there told me that's what I needed to use. I tried using a regular ethernet cable, because the other half and two friends who had actually done this told me that's really all that I needed.

And nothing.

Well, last night, I was talking to one of the friends. He was throwing me the same suggestions that I had tried a million times over - bridge the connection, make sure ICS is enabled, etc, etc. While he was going over all of this, it occurred to me that I had enabled all the sharing over my wireless connection, but I hadn't even messed with the LAN.

Upon which I discovered that the Auto Crossover Detection was disabled.

So I enabled it.

And I reset my IP Address et al on my 360 to Automatic instead of Manual.

And then there was Xbox Live.

FINALLY, FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

So, my gamertag is lizfu01, if anybody's on Live.
