First, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' "The Lyre of Orpheus" album is eating my brains in ways that are simultaneously awesome and devastating. Nick Cave fills me with glee and despair. Oh, baby, why you gotta be like this?

(granted, it's Nick Cave, and his music isn't really meant to be the soundtrack of a happy, fulfilled life)

Some tracks I enjoy:

O Children (obvsly) - Damn you, Harry Potter, for being awesome and using this song ;A;

Carry Me - THIS is my favorite track. This and "O Children" appear side-by-side. "Carry Me" is the resolution of the very loose Orphic myth that the album tells (the end of the Orpheus-Eurydice part) and "O Children" is the coda (where he dies years later).

The Lyre of Orpheus - Nick Cave's more literal and crude take on the Orpheus myth :D (it fills me with fuzzies and lols)

Also, here are some other songs that are amazing:

The Lost Song by The Cat Empire.

James Bond by Scouting for Girls (would it be evil of me to suggest that this song needs to be vidded??)

Five Step - a Radiohead/Dave Brubeck mash-up :DDD

And because it's always easy and fun to make fun of hipsters:

Charles Bronson Kills Hipsters - Charles Bronson is one thing that hipsters can't ruin!! (and when you least expect it - Jeff Goldblum)

Cultural Vampirism - is it ironic that I want to make this into an ironic t-shirt that hipsters will probably wear in order to be ironic until the irony becomes irrelevant in fifteen minutes?

I live in the country, and (like all or most people who live in the country), we get out water from a well.

In the spring, we made the switch to geo-thermal power, which has been awesome. EXCEPT. Since we got the system installed, our water pressure has been low and the temperature almost unbearably high. At first, the water pressure wasn't noticeable and the temperature was had an easy fix - just wait a while for it to cool down. In the past few months, though, it's become problematic: the water pressure is so ridiculously low that sometimes I half expect it to come out in a dribble, and the temp....ugh. It never cools down. This makes showering horrible.

(Oh, did I mention? This only happens our bathrooms.)

I mentioned it to Mom, and it sounds like something that she's harangued my stepdad with. He told her that it would be our well drying up. Of course, we don't know because he's off, starting a million and one last minute projects that he probably won't finish before we have this open house on Saturday - projects which he could have done months ago!

*facepalm*

Also, I seemed to have pulled a muscle in my foot. It hurt last night, it's stiff today, and it's painful to put my weight on.

...

Aside from all of this, here! Have a fic rec. It made me happy as I read it:

No Hero Manual Included (from this past issue of SSBB)

First, the most important link:

- A Love Story Told in Reverse by notragicmercury, illustrated by me. It's a great fic, and I'm not saying that because I'm biased. Okay, so my bias forms a smidge of my opinion.

Why I love this fic? It has a believable version of Dean/Cassie! It has Cassie! Being awesome! (I loved Cassie, okay?) And Cas! Being Cas! Also, the relationships in this seem realistically complicated enough.

Aaand, everything else:

- Mad Men theme....with a twist by Videos Recorded Live. This is the second best version of "Nature Boy" that I've ever heard (Nat King Cole's is still No. 1).

- Raske Menn - They're a Norwegian comedy trio, whose humor ranges from crude to absurd. And yes, they always perform in those shorts. Here's a couple vids (all subtitled):

The Airport Train (Flytoget) - A bit absurd, like Monty Python.

History of the World in Five Minutes - I now know that Thor Heyerdahl arrived before Lief Erikson in his fantastic boat, Kon Tiki 5.

- CastielxScissors - a cute fanart by Whisperelmwood

- Iceland Cube - by koinogenki. A cute illustration of facts about Iceland.

One day, I will make a post on how amazing Janelle Monae is and how much I adore her. I love how stylistically, she doesn't dress down to express herself, but instead chooses to dress up and in what would be considered "men's fashion."

In the meanwhile, have an awesomely amazing music vid (from, like, 2009):

Cut for Video )

The Hanged Man by Mithrigil. Sort-of Tokyo Babylon AU fic based around the premise of Tokyo Babylon being set in London. Amaaaazing AU goodness ;A; This fic has sent me on an X binge. And there might have been X fanart that resulted from this. Uhhh, oops.

Which reminds me: I'm still slowly working on all those prompts I received.

Tightrope by Janelle Monae. The more I read or see of Janelle Monae, the more I like her :D

Furry Walls by Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) from Get Him to the Greek. Out of the two movies I saw last week (Get Him to the Greek and Eclipse), I enjoyed Greek much more. Actually, I liked the movie for two things: it's soundtrack (which pokes fun at rock and pop) and Sean Combs. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody on my dreamroll, unless they're specifically looking for stupid humor and buddy comedies a la Judd Apatow, but not quite (it's not a bromance and it's a spin-off of a movie that Apatow produced), but the soundtrack is a thing of beauty (except for "African Child (Trapped in Me)", which is just DDDDDD: in an intentional way).

Also, I want SPN vid for "Furry Walls".

Unrelated: my girlfriend is amazing ;A;
