lizfu: (Bobby don't take no shit)
I love the job that I affectionately call Job 1. It's retail, sure, but for the most part, it's really cool. I get to talk to people about movies and shows that I enjoy and recommend, and sometimes (okay, a lot of times) those people end up becoming customers. It genuinely warms the cockles of my heart when customers come up to me and tell me that they watched something I recommended to them and loved it (and - in the case of tv shows - subsequently need more now). Yeah, this isn't where I see myself being in life, but right now, it's a pretty awesome deal.

As with any job involving customers, it has its down sides. Some customers are (gasp) rude; other customers can be a little creepy; and a few can be frustrating without being rude or creepy. This story falls in the latter category.

Warning: Sexist shit I don't even... )

Long preface is long )

Anyhow, on to the point of this post. Back in July, I was finally able to open up to my sister about being both gay and asexual. I tried my best to explain just what asexuality entailed for me, and I like to think that she got the general idea. Today, I got a message from her on Facebook:

Oh, and I want you to know that I've been doing research on asexuality. Bravo for being brave.

I'm totally gushing right now. My sister is so amazing ;A; Why can't more people like her exist??

After reading my LJ flist and my Facebook feed, I'm shocked at how many friends/people I follow are getting dumped.

To all the people having their hearts ripped out this month: You have my sympathy.

In better news, I'm feeling much better. I might even be up for talking to people, including my ex.

And for something completely different: Playing with the Moon: The Picture Show (NPR).

I really need a better angst icon than the Sam one....

I'm spending my Halloween listening to a rebroadcast of War of the Worlds, narrated by Leonard Nimoy and other Star Trek alum on NPR.

How are you spending yours?
