Okay, so this isn't actually a real day, B♥U♥T today I'm feeling in a super generous social mood, which was brought on by one of my GISHWHES teammates and I deciding to start a snail mail correspondence - mostly because neither of us get anything in the mail.

Then I thought: Hey! It would be cool if I could start snail mail correspondences with the other fannish people! I wouldn't send a long letter dumping my personal life on you (that would be awkward, unless you're everysecondtuesday or anybody else who's on the IRL friendship wagon with me), but I could send things like notes of encouragement, postcards, small pieces of fanart, holiday greetings, and the occasional inappropriate card (the cards wouldn't be sexually inappropriate, because making somebody feel uncomfortable to the point of sexual harassment is NOT cool).

Today and tomorrow, I'll be writing letters and what-have-you. If you want to receive something from me, just leave your address along with what fandoms you enjoy (so that I don't send you something you'll completely despise) in the comments. Comments will be screened. Hopefully, I'll send things off by Saturday or Monday.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215, which has been my one and only laptop for the last five years. It's been a great laptop with only a minor BIOS problem early on that I was able to resolve quickly thanks for a patch. However, as my baby is getting up there in laptop years, her parts will start giving out, but I love her enough to drop money on the repairs instead of ditching her for a new model.

Her CPU fan has started making a wheezing noise every now and then. If I prop her up, the noise goes away, but I'm afraid of what this may indicate. I've already looked around at parts - they're fairly inexpensive - as well as guides for disassembling a Toshiba Satellite A215. The most I got out of these guides was, "HAHAHAHA! No. Unless you're experienced in the mysterious art of Toshiba laptop repair, take it to a professional."

So, my question: Should I take my baby to the Geek Squad? Will they even repair a laptop that's well out of warranty? How are their prices for repairs?

I used to not believe in making resolutions, because I was the sort of person to lose the race before I even started running. I'm so dissatisfied with my life right now - where I am, where I'm not going - that I really do need to change. So, 2012 is the year where I try my hardest to change.

I got a Kindle Touch from my mom and my sister. I did not know that I needed a Kindle Touch - much less a Kindle! - in my life until I had one.

Currently, I'm uploading pdfs of fanfiction.

Because I can take fic with me on this thing, and dammit, I will.

Also:

I got a Sansa Fuze Plus (my first mp3 player) from my stepdad, and some cool knick-knacks.

I feel like I've finally stepped into the 21st century ;_;

Right. So. Kindle. Fanfiction.

(My sister was awesome enough to load a ton of books from a Kindle belonging to one of her friends. My collection is large and eclectic now)

I just wrote a long tumblr post on Deanna Winchester, who is chewing on the scenery of my mind in delightful ways that makes me want to write fic. She's wonderfully complicated and complex, growing up in a hypermasculine environment that wants to reinforce society's ideas of femininity on her (through John's misguided, clueless parenting, mostly) but at the same time forces her to reject that femininity in order to survive and be the useful soldier that the Winchester lifestyle calls for.

And then I realized that Deanna Winchester would more or less be Kara Thrace. Complete with special destiny and angry grrl action.

Yeah yeah....I do a lot of Cas fanart. What can I say? He remains my favorite character (except S6 Cas - but we don't talk about S6), and I'm still kinda pissed at how the character's exit from the show was handled.

And then I heard ( SPOILERS,DEAR ). This only seems appropriate.

I don't know which is more disturbing: that I manipulated and stretched the truth to the police just so I could get a photo of a cranberry/popcorn garland encircling one of their cars, or that they let me do it (after two other police stations had turned me down).

And I did it with Dean Winchester finesse and charm.
