Aug. 24th, 2010 11:11 pmSatoshi Kon passed away today.
Wow.
I wasn't a fan of his works, but I enjoyed the titles that I saw - Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Paprika, bits of Paranoia Agent. I liked how his films challenged perceptions of reality and fantasy and explored the frailty of the human psyche. Perfect Blue also happens to be on the few anime that my sister and I can watch together.
So, Satoshi Kon is dead. Or, perhaps, the world is dreaming that Satoshi Kon is dead. Or maybe Satoshi Kon is dreaming that he is dead in the world, which is a fantasy of a young woman who dreamed up an alter-ego named Satoshi Kon in order to cope with an aspect of her life.
Merrily merrily
merrily merrily
life is but a dream.
